This three-story 42,000 s.f. wood-framed hotel is supported on corrected soil with steel moment frames at the first floor restaurant area. There is also an outdoor rooftop commons area with a swimming pool supported by precast and steel beams and columns.
The two-level 105 stall precast parking ramp is supported on existing soil stiffened with Geopiers. The ramp was built into a hill, which resulted in large lateral soil forces being applied to the structure. Access to each level occurs from a different street.
The parking ramp project required a lot of coordination between the precast supplier and general contractor to make sure all of the external loads were resolved properly. The close proximity of the new parking structure to the parking lines, existing building, and roadway complicated the design and construction.
