Amway Grand Plaza Hotel

For this project, Larson Engineering assisted with upgrading the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel Tower’s old curtain wall and replaced it with a new exterior facade in order to tackle ongoing issues with aesthetics and performance. In order to keep the hotel tower operational while work was being done, the construction was completed from the top down; this was the first top-down curtain wall installation done in the United States. The process used allowed parts of the existing building to temporarily remain while the new envelope was constructed. Through the use of a recladding process, the new facade contributed to a near 20% reduction in energy use.
