Larson provided structural engineering services for a leading agribusiness cooperative to install a new, 1000lb capacity Special Purpose Personnel Elevator (SPPE) at their facility in St. Joseph, MO. This elevator is designed to efficiently service six landings and is integrated with the existing grain silo, bridges, and head house, enhancing operational functionality. Larson’s work included designing the steel frame for the elevator, as well as catwalks and connections to the existing structures. Larson conducted an initial site visit where the existing conditions were scanned using a FARO 350S laser scanner. Larson modeled the elevator and new catwalks using Revit. This model was crucial in coordinating drawings and avoiding existing interferences to ensure a smooth installation.
