The Festus Red Barn, originally constructed in 1932, and donated to the city of Festus around 50 years ago by the Peterein family was restored and repurposed to be used as an event space and wedding venue for the city of Festus.
Larson Engineering assisted with the structural aspects to bring the original structure up to meet today’s code level loads along with designing a new deck area, ramps and stairs for accessibility. Structural products were selected to match the original materials and maintain the historical aspects.
The Red Barn project received the Preserve Missouri Award from The Missouri Alliance for Historic Preservation along with the Heritage and Conservation Remarkable Renovation and Restoration Project from the St. Louis Council of Construction Consumers (SLC3)
