Project Description:
The overall project consisted of a new site entrance drive, new high school entrance addition, new wrestling/weight room addition, new middle school addition, site reconfiguration, parking lot expansion, new off-site bus maintenance facility, and a new synthetic turf located at the Clarke CSD MS/HS.
The new ~1,100’ site entrance drive, now named Seminole Way, connects the school site directly to Highway 69 to the east and was intended to separate student traffic from bus and parent pickup traffic. The new entrance allows busses to access the bus pickup area that consists of angled bus pickup and is also striped for temporary parking for large events hosted at the school. The wrestling/weight room addition was constructed at a location of existing parking, so parking expansion was constructed at a nearby lot. The high school entrance addition modified where the main high school access was located and required new ADA parking and a loading zone to be constructed at the new entrance. The perimeter parking for the facility was then modified to be 90-degree parking with the stalls located at the inside of the surrounding drive to improve pedestrian safety. The turf project included removal of existing grass athletic field and replacement with a new synthetic turf inside and existing track facility.
Lastly, a new bus maintenance facility was constructed on the north side of town for exterior parking of approximately 20 buses and included a 5,400 SF maintenance building with four (x4) overhead doors and offices. The site also included parking for 26 personal vehicles, a perimeter security fence with sliding gate, and a stormwater detention basin.
